10 self defense drills – first 5

Let’s go over some self defense drills that you can practice. There are 10 of them. Let’s see how well I can describe them in the written word!

  1. Same-side grab 1 – Partner grabs your arm with 1 hand, same side. Bend your elbow towards your partner’s elbow while moving towards your partner. The grip will break. Follow up with a back fist and reverse punch.
  2. Double grab – Partner grabs your arm with both hands. Reach over the top and grab your own fist. Move towards your partner and move your elbow towards your partner’s chin. The grip will break. Follow up with a back fist and reverse punch.
  3. Same side grab 2 – Partner grabs your arm with 1 hand, same side. Raise arm up like you are checking your watch. Grab your partner’s hand with your free hand. Begin bending your partner’s wrist sideways (pinkie-side towards elbow) until your partner taps out. Optional – find a nerve opening in your partner’s arm to tweak until your partner taps out.
  4.  Same side grab 3 – Partner grabs your arm with 1 hand, same side. Raise your arm up like you are reading your palm. With your free hand, reach underneath and grab your partner’s thumb. Twist your partner’s arm away from your partner’s body until your partner taps out. Be sure to keep the elbow low to prevent your partner from escaping.
  5. Same side grab 4 – Partner grabs your arm with 1 hand, same side. With your free hand, grab your partner’s arm as if shaking hands. Step under your partner’s arm toward your partner’s back. Twist the arm up towards your partner’s neck until your partner taps out. Do a reverse side kick to the knee.

These are the first 5 self defense techniques. Stay tuned here for the last 5 soon!
