10 self defense drills – second 5

Here is the list of the second set of self defense drills.

6. Double grab – Partner grabs both hands. Raise your arm up like you are reading your palm. With your other hand, reach underneath and grab your partner’s thumb. Twist your partner’s arm away from your partner’s body until your partner taps out. Be sure to keep the elbow low to prevent your partner from escaping.

7. Rear bear hug – Partner wraps arms around your arms from behind like a bear hug. Do a foot stomp on your partner’s feet. When the grip loosens, drop into a horse stance and pop your elbows up parallel to the ground, removing your partner’s arms from your body. Do 2 reverse elbows to your partner’s body, step back into a front stance, and follow up with a back fist and reverse punch.

8. Bear hug – Partner wraps arms around your arms from the front like a bear hug. Grab your partner’s hips and do a knee smash to the groin. When the grip loosens, drop into a horse stance and pop your elbows up parallel to the ground, removing your partner’s arms from your body. Do 2 elbows to your partner’s body, step back into a front stance, and follow up with a back fist and reverse punch.

9. Shirt grab – Partner grabs the same side of your shirt with 1 hand. Reach with your opposite hand and grip your between your partner’s thumb and forefinger and behind the pinkie finger. Pin your partner’s hand between your hand and your shoulder. Twist your body towards the hand you used to grab your partner. Tweak your partner’s wrist by cranking your partner’s hand pinkie-side towards your partner’s arm until you partner taps out. Follow up with a back fist to the face.

10. Double shirt grab – Partner grabs your shirt with both hands. Reach 1 hand underneath your partner’s hands and grab the opposite-side hand of you partner. With your other hand, reach and grip your between your partner’s thumb and forefinger and behind the pinkie finger. Pin your partner’s hand between your hand and your shoulder. Twist your body towards the hand you used to grab your partner. Tweak your partner’s wrist by cranking your partner’s hand pinkie-side towards your partner’s arm until you partner taps out. Follow up with a back fist to the face.
